This is how the day started in Rainier, Oregon, this Wednesday February 23, 2001.
The snow was gorgeous around Old Glory. And it was enough to cancel school for the day.
What’s Next – It Looks Like Accumulating Snow Is Ahead
Overall, last night’s post on the Willamette Valley snow timeline looks to be in pretty good shape. But now that we’re getting closer to ‘snow time’ here are a couple of extra details:
- We’re keeping Portland weird today! Snow showers, rain showers and just plain sunshine should come and go today.
- I just reviewed the morning forecast simulations and I think we’re on track to see heavier, more frequent bands of snow developing around 4pm today, give or take. So this is when I think we’ll start to see accumulations on the valley floor.
- With highs near 40 today, it might take awhile to get the accumulation going. But showers look much more frequent throughout the evening and they should be all snow, even to the beaches at times!
Have a great day – stay safe – and thanks for checking in on the Bruce Sussman Weather Blog.
Phil Delany says
Bruce, we have 3 1/2″ of snow out here in the east Clark Co. foothills at 1250′.
