After a late summer break from blogging, we’ve got one son playing flag football, another playing soccer and both of them back in the school routine.
And, I’m happy to report that every morning except the first day…I’ve actually gotten them to school on time! Brian Miskimins, who does weather & traffic at KOIN 6 News calls me – ‘saved by the second Sussman’ – If that isn’t the truth!
And as much as you can count on me being last minute somewhere, you can count on hot weather after Portland, Oregon school kids go back to class.
Wednesday September 11, 2013 was one of those days.
It was so hot that soccer practice was cancelled due to heat! That’s right, a soccer practice was cancelled! So my wife brought the kids down to Salty’s on the Columbia River where I was doing live weather and we all had a great dinner. Now…check out what a scorcher it was around the Portland & Vancouver area…
Portland had a record breaking high of 95 degrees, Troutdale a record 98 and Hillsboro a record 97 degrees. Vancouver & Salem tied previous records with 96 degree highs.
And it was more than our area with the heat. Records were set in places like Seattle & Vancouver, B.C.
Of course, I waited so long to write this blog post that this is almost ancient history.
Just before my 11pm newscast last night, I checked weather conditions at the summit of Mt. Bachelor. It was 29 degrees with wind gusting more than 80mph!
Yep, it looks like things are changing…
