From Astoria to Portland to Bend our April is going into the record books for cool & wet weather. And in Mt. Bachelor’s case, it’s an all time snow record.
Now, after this history making April, it’s time to move on. Are you with me on this?
Finally, the storm track will stay mainly north of us and the first week of May actually looks warmer and drier than average–overall. The sun is very strong this time of year and can warm us pretty quickly. The only problem this spring? It’s been hidden behind clouds. Well, that’s about to change.
Looking At The Week Ahead
- three of the next seven days should hit or top 70 degrees (we’ve had just one of these as of April 30, 2011)
- five of the next seven days look to be average or warmer than average
- the only rain potential I see as of now is Monday and then possibly next weekend
You know what this means, right? You’re going to take the dog for a walk in your neighborhood and say to yourself, “Hey, wait a minute, where are all these people coming from? I haven’t seen them in months!”
I do that every year.

Thanks for the first freeze notice. We gardeners are waiting and starting seeds indoors.
