If you’re the bride, you’ve probably been dreaming about it since you were a little girl.
You wake up to blue skies in the central Oregon town of Bend. What could possibly go wrong?
Whoops–cue the first major wildfire of the year– just outside of town and within view of where the ceremony will be held.
That leads to memories and photos shared around the world! I don’t think I will ever forget this picture of the wildfire wedding. I hope this is a symbol of the passion and love they’ll have for each other their entire lives. I mean, who gets a wedding photo with flames from a wildfire swirling behind them? incredible!
In case you’re reading from someplace else in the world–and you might be–central Oregon and the town of Bend are known for approximately 300 days of sun each year. It is the ‘sunny’ and dry part of Oregon, east of the Cascades mountain range, where annual rainfall rates decrease up to 1″ per mile you move away from the crest of the mountains. This is because air sinks as it descends down the east side of the Cascades–and sinking air dries out as it drops.
